An exception to this is if the engine has turbo power or other technologies that give it an extra boost in horsepower and torque numbers, and those models (such as the Subaru Ascent) can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

While it will be a little thirstier, you will enjoy higher power numbers with a V6. With that extra power already on hand, the engine and vehicle won’t need to work as hard when towing a heavy trailer, trekking through steep mountain passes, or getting up to speed when merging onto a busy highway. And less work means that your engine will run a little cooler, which will typically mean fewer repairs in the long run.
